Six dimensional phase space measurements at the SNS Beam Test Facility

Abstract:  This presentation covers the implementation and results from the first complete six-dimensional phase space measurement of a beam in a hadron accelerator. The measurement was made on the Spallation Neutron Source Beam Test Facility, a functional duplicate of the SNS front-end. The data reveal previously unknown correlations in the six-dimensional phase space distribution that are not visible in lower dimensionality measurements. These correlations are shown to be intensity dependent.
