• Dark gray region: the "core". Here, the "core' is actually the part of the star below the piston (set at the bottom of the oxygen shell).
• Light gray regions: convective regions of the star's interior.
• Solid gray line: Nuclear energy generation rate.
• Dashed gray line: Density.
