- 5 November - workplace perception of women with children:
"I have to say that I've never been discriminated against during my education. As a young single woman, I never felt anyone hold me back. No one pushed me through either, but I've never felt any discrimination. I've been treated as an equal, which is fantastic ... I did definitely sense a noticeable change in people after I had a child. It seems like when employers or colleagues find out you have a young child, they automatically prepare themselves for you to not be productive."

Learning How To Negotiate Workshop
Grace Menzel, CPCC
1 October 2008, 4:00-5:30 PM
NSCL Nuclear Conference Room (2nd floor)
Although Grace will draw from the book Ask for it: How women can use the power of negotiation to get what they really want, this is a workshop for both sexes. Key points include clarifying what you want, establishing BATNA (best alternate to negotiation agreement), figuring out what the other party wants, and creating an action plan. The workshop is hands on: discussion, teamwork, examples, etc.
