Gamma-ray Tracking: GRETINA, signal decomposition, and new detector designs
- David Radford, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Wednesday, April 23, 4:10 PM - Nuclear Science Seminar
NSCL Seminar Room
GRETINA is a next-generation gamma-ray detector array under construction at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. It makes use of the new technology of gamma-ray tracking to greatly improve both efficiency and resolution for in-beam spectroscopy. The principles of gamma-ray tracking will be described, with emphasis on the complex digital signal processing that makes it possible. Finally, possible ideas for radical new designs of position-sensitive HPGe detectors will be discussed.
