Viewing the Chemical Evolution of the Quark Gluon Plasma

One of the great challenges of heavy-ion physics has been to verify that the chemical properties of the super-hadronic matter created at RHIC and at the LHC indeed has the expected chemical composition (quarks and gluons). I will show how one can use charge correlations to deduce the densities of up, down and strange quarks at early times in the reactions, and also to test that they move independently, rather than in quark-antiquark pairs.
