SNS: From Paper to 1 MW, an Insider Perspective
- John Galambos, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Wednesday, November 4, 4:10 PM - Nuclear Science Seminar
NSCL Seminar Room
The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) is a billion dollar, MW beam power class accelerator driven spallation neutron source. The DOE construction project phase was from 1999-2006, followed by a transition to operations and a beam power power ramp-up to 1 MW. Experiences navigating the various phases of a large DOE project and the subsequent power ramp-up to high power will be reviewed.
