Environmental Policy Statement

Michigan State University's National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory recognizes the important role our natural resources and physical environmental play in ensuring the continuing health, safety and welfare of our campus community.

The National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory is dedicated to the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) that will establish effective communications, identify measurable objectives and goals, compel periodic compliance assessments, and foster sound environmental leadership.

The Laboratory recognizes that every individual working on its behalf can contribute to environmental improvement. To that end, the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory acknowledges and supports participation in Michigan State University's EMS program. By participating in the EMS program, we shall endeavor to promote environmental stewardship by adopting the following C3 principles.

Commitment. The NSCL will communicate to the campus community our environmental commitment by adopting, where appropriate, voluntary pollution prevention methods and waste minimization practice, and by promoting the effective and efficient use of natural resources. The NSCL will also continue its policy of encouraging reuse of materials when at all feasible and recycling or proper disposal of those materials that cannot be reused.

Compliance. Compliance with all environmental rules and regulations from federal, state, and local authorities and all other environmental requirements to which the NSCL subscribes will be maintained.

Continual Improvement. The Environmental Management System will be reviewed periodically by National Superconductivity Cyclotron Laboratory management to ensure the ongoing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of the system in sustaining compliance, achieving desired performance standards, and improving environmental stewardship.
