I coordinate various user-related activities at the NSCL, including beam-time scheduling, user workshops, and student training programs. I am the interface between our "users" (scientists who do experiments at the NSCL) and the technical departments of the NSCL. I am also responsible for developing and maintaining a dependable experimental schedule, publishing facility documentation so that it is readily available to all, and regularly communicating with our users by a variety of channels. I am part of the core group that continually assesses user needs and upgrades to our facility so that it can be responsive to a user community attacking increasingly complex experiments. As the NSCL liaison to the User Executive Committee, I am involved in arranging annual workshops that aim to provide two-way communication between the users and NSCL. I also suggest and implement programs that enhance the training of graduate students using the facility.
