NSCL has special arrangements with several hotels to provide rooms at reduced rates for NSCL users and visitors, including visitors who pay their own expenses.

  • Kellogg Center (55 S. Harrison Road, East Lansing, 800-875-5090, 1.25 miles from NSCL) offers NSCL users and visitors the special rate of $65 per room if they identify themselves as NSCL visitor when registering. Additionally, Kellogg will provide free transportation between the hotel and NSCL or Capitol City Airport, if arrangements are made in advance.
  • TownePlace Suites by Marriott (2855 Hannah Boulevard, East Lansing, 517-203-1000, 1 mile from NSCL) offers NSCL visitors the special rate of $71 for Studio Suites and $91 for Two-Bedroom Suites. Half of the Studio Suites have a pull-out sofa bed and can accommodate two persons.
  • Candlewood Suites (3545 Forest Road, Lansing, 888-299-2208, about 3 miles from NSCL) offers NSCL visitors the special rate of $63 for Studio Suites and $83 for One-Bedroom Suites.
  • Red Roof Inn East (3615 Dunckel Road, Lansing, 517-332-2575, about 3 miles from NSCL) offers the special rate of $42.49.
  • Comfort Inn and Suites (2209 University Park Dr., Okemos, 517-347-6690, about 5 miles from NSCL) offers rooms at $79 under the "Michigan State Administration" rate.

For rentals of 30 days or more, some area hotels offer the following special rates: Candlewood Suites - $39/night; Kellogg Center - $61/night; and Residence Inn by Marriott - $67/night. The Residence Inn rate includes a free, full breakfast buffet (hot food) plus evening meals at no charge.

  • Guest Apartments (across campus, McDonel Hall 0.2 miles from NSCL) In many of the MSU dormitories, there are VIP or Guest apartments which have a bedroom, a living room, and a small kitchen. NSCL is presently renting three of the McDonel Hall apartments for the use of NSCL users and guests. Each apartment can comfortably accommodate two people. The rate is $30 per night per apartment.
  • Owen Hall (0.1 miles from NSCL) Dormitories are available at Owen Hall and are suitable for students staying for long periods of time or users with small budgets. The charge for dorm rooms at Owen Hall is $36/night, which includes an $8.50/day meal allowance in the Owen Cafeteria.
