Erik Tryggestad
Instructor of Medical Physics

I'm working in the field of therapeutic medical physics. Currently I have a position which involves both research (~30%) and clinical (~70%) duties. On the research side, as an example, we've built a small-animal (mouse, rats) irradiator that essentially mimics the state of the art for human radiotherapy (has 3D volumetric imaging capabilities to guide the treatment; dose planning is done using Monte Carlo). On the clinical side, I oversee the technical aspects of two of the radiotherapy technologies/programs, Gamma Knife radiosurgery and image-guided radiotherapy with a Synergy linac.
