NSCL Alumni Profile

Gerard "Gary" Crawley

I spent 30 years as a faculty member of both the NSCL and the Physics and Astronomy Department at Michigan State between 1968 and 1998. These were exciting and enjoyable times mainly because of the terrific people who worked at the lab and in the department. Since then I have spent 6 years as the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina and later 4 years with Science Foundation Ireland in Dublin. I formally retired in December 2007 but since then have worked about 40% of the time with a small consulting company Marcus Enterprises. I consult on research funding policy and practice in a number of countries including at present the UAE. Otherwise Margaret and I have enjoyed visiting with our children and 9 grandchildren scattered around the world.
