Hands-on Work in the HiRA Lab
Daniela Henzlova, NSCL research associate, and Daniel Coupland, NSCL graduate student, troubleshoot data acquisition technology associated with the High Resolution Array (HiRA) detector. HiRA is used by researchers to detect fragments produced when nuclei collide at high velocities. The detector also is used to determine the fragments' most important properties -- electrical charge, mass, energy and direction of motion.
Operation of NSCL as a national user facility is supported by the Experimental Nuclear Physics Program of the U.S. National Science Foundation.
