protons (red) and neutrons (blue) in 132Sn. The density dependence
of the symmetry energy will determine the neutron-toproton
density ratio as a function of radius. The figure shows
the neutron density for two possible equations-of-state: one
with an energy per neutron that increases relatively fast with
density (solid blue line) and one that increases relatively slowly
(dashed blue line).
