Superconducting Source for Ions (SuSI)

admin

The Superconducting Source for Ions (SuSI), the newest NSCL ion source, uses chilled superconducting magnets to produce an enhanced magnetic field. SuSI’s maximum magnetic field is around 4 Telsa, more than three times that of earlier generation ion sources. SuSI, to be commissioned in late 2007 or early 2008, will increase available ion currents for nuclear physics experiments at NSCL.
