Artemis Spyrou, an NSCL visiting research associate, adjusts the cabling on the Modular Neutron Array. MoNA, as it's known at the laboratory, is a detector used to measure speed and direction of neutrons that are emitted after a rare isotope beam strikes a designated target. MoNA was built primarily by undergraduates at handful of universities across the United States with a $1 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation.
