The Beta Counting System (BCS) consists of four large-area silicon detectors mounted on an ISO-160 flange, with additional upstream detectors providing particle identification information. The second detector from the top, noticeably larger than the other detectors, is the double- sided silicon strip detector used to correlate fragment implants with their subsequent beta decays.
