45-Degree Dipole Magnet
Matt Johnson, NSCL staff engineer, inspects a 45-degree dipole magnet that he helped to design and assemble. The magnet, used to turn and separate nuclei speeding down the beamline, was installed in the Coupled Cyclotron Facility during the 2007 reconfiguration. Johnson, a native Michigander, earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from MSU in 2001.
