Talks and Demonstrations by NSCL Professionals

Michael Thoennessen gives a lecture.

It isn’t hard to get physicists talking about what they do. NSCL faculty members are eager to share the excitement of their work with school children of all ages. Physics may sound intimidating, but it’s really about exploration. These scientists are modern-day explorers.
They look for answers to the questions:

  • “From what are we made?”
  • “From where did we come?”

Our scientists can pick up where the glorious pictures from the Hubble telescope leave off to discuss how astrophysics seeks to understand how the elements were formed. They also discuss why basic research is important in forming new science and technologies.
Cost: Free.
