The National Research Council (NRC) recently completed its decadal review of the field of nuclear physics. The report was released publically today (Tuesday, June 26), along with two videos. One a long version and one short, both videos highlight current research in the field and illustrate some of the societal benefits that flow from that research.
The video ranges from high energy experiments looking into quark gluon plasma, to rare isotope research, to societal benefits and applications. About halfway through the long video, be sure to keep an eye out for the lab’s own Filomena Nunes, Remco Zegers and Hendrik Schatz as they talk about the synthesis of nuclei and the properties of rare isotopes.
The videos can be found by visiting the National Academies of Science’s Board on Physics and Astronomy’s webpage at http://sites.nationalacademies.org/BPA/BPA_069589.
