Living in East Lansing

As an NSCL graduate student, you can live on campus or off campus—your choice.

MSU has the largest residence hall system of any university in the nation. It thrives because it is effectively managed and is renown for the quality of its amenities—food service, maintenance, computer connectivity, security, and more.

East Lansing offers of wealth of housing options: apartments, condominiums, and houses. You can live within walking distance of the campus, or you can live at a distance from campus life and commute by bus or car. East Lansing has all the amenities of an urban setting: shopping options and eating establishments of all kinds, outdoor recreational activities, a selection of strong K–12 school options, arts, and entertainment.

This is a lively community, with a cultural and recreational events calendar that complements and supplements the rich offerings of MSU with an array of activities all its own—arts and music festivals, farmers’ markets, craft fairs, and more.
