Like conferences, only moreso
This is like some of the audience comments at conference presentations or seminars, only much more thorough. One gets the impression that the author was so incensed by the paper he's commenting on that he sat down and wrote an epic criticism for the arXiv. When I've given presentations at (two) conferences, mind, nobody asked any pointed questions, but they probably recognized that I was a tiny, terrified undergrad who'd probably shrivel up and die on the spot, and there isn't much sport in that.
The abstract of this paper alone is amazing, although the last line is great, too.
Physics: you either need to be right most of the time or to have a Batman suit. I need a Batman suit.
