Am I one of, like, two people who liked Sightings as a kid? In that context, does anybody else listen to Coast to Coast AM?
It's on in the wee hours (perfect for those late-night grading sessions), and it's a truly amazing radio program. This show provides an excellent opportunity to test one's critical thinking skills. People say things I can't necessarily disprove (usually because they're subjective, eyewitness accounts), but it's a great intellectual exercise to try. I can pretty much dismiss offhand (with a shudder) anything the guests say about quantum physics--I may not know about ghosts in S3, but I do know that the Schroedinger's cat idea does not mean what they think it means. Unless, that is, Michio Kaku or some other scientist (generally a semi-prominent or prominent physicist) is that night's guest. Those shows are pretty awesome. One of the great things about Coast to Coast is that they occasionally have on real scientists who treat callers' occasionally out-there questions with respect, not derision. That's hard to find. Then again, it's kind of difficult to listen to time travelers' lawyers or pet psychics or plant psychics too often.
(para)(normal) = (para)(orthogonal) = (para)(ortho)(gonal) = (singlet)(triplet)(gonal) = ?
Hmm... like spin isomers. I'm sure there's some deep irrelevance to this.
